I’ve started taking a Montessori approach to mothering Abby -- instead of forcing her to learn stuff she doesn’t care about, I follow her lead and teach her things that catch her attention. So we’ve left the world of numbers and moved on to her all-consuming love of chipmunks, sandpaper, dogs, sidewalk chalk and trains.
Sidewalk chalk has been a great way to teach her colors. She’s also pretty excited to learn shapes; although they all end up being hearts that look like straight lines. Well, at least I can be proud they’re pretty straight.
