DC, San Salvador and Lima

Flying is always fun, but it’s even more fun when airport security makes fun of you for having two different flip flops on (at least they were both Old Navy!) and then three different people at customs thinks (out loud!) that you’re a bad parent for leaving your child at home to go on an adventure. Needless to say, I was super happy to have hit DC and to spend a day with my friends.

My DC friends are awesome. Let’s just say that we had a great dinner and shared many hugs and laughs. I miss them too much to dive into it.

View leaving Dulles Airport.

Kim and I left super early to catch our Taca flight to San Salvador. The food on this flight was awesome. Two of our flight attendants had return missionaries written all over them. It also didn’t help that I caught them reading their Book of Mormons by the bathrooms.

Kim cracked me up by doing the robot every time they said the word Taca. It never got old. She is hilarious. What’s not hilarious? Kim taking this opportunity to exclaim, “I didn’t know you had grey hair!” Thanks for the reminder. Note to self: push Kim off the mountain.

Flying into San Salvador.

Notes on San Salvador, El Salvador – airport is ghetto; view from the airplane is amazing. After a one-hour layover, we were on the move to Lima, Peru.

Cool Lima trees.

We got to Lima in the afternoon and went right to work exploring the city. We only had a few hours, so we grabbed dinner at an awesome Italian place, saw a few churches and heading down to the beach. We got serenaded by a group of hooligans cranking out La Bamba, met some overfriendly high school boys wanting a photo with some cute chickas and a rawdy taxi driver that loves to dance the salsa with his woman.

Statues at the old church.

All the churches here are yellow.

Me hanging out on the rocky beach.

The Lima coastline.
Totally, totally love it here -- the food, the people, the beautiful city, the nightlife, the architecture. Lima: everyone should come here.

The security people were really just jealous that they don't have the guts to hike Macchu Picchu or wear two colors of flip flops.
