Cruise - Sicily, Italy

Totally random, but this was our towel animal of the day. Um. Terrifying.

Today was a great day. We got up super early and hit the ground running in Sicily. First we saw a small village that was featured in the movie The Godfather. There was a beautiful Byzantine church there that many of the villagers used to hide in while they were under attack in WW2. It was rustic and completely made of stone. It was unbelievably cold in the hot summer air. It would have been a terrifyingly beautiful place to be holed up during the raids. Next we went to a working vineyard for wine tasting (or coke drinking) and a small lunch of marinated vegetables, meats, and cheeses. The views were amazing. We finished the day walking around a small town called Taormina. Sicily has an active volcano, which we basically circled on our way from place to place. It is very hilly with long winding roads full of hairpin turns and sweeping views of lemon trees and olive groves. Most of our travels followed the coast with the dark blue and green Mediterranean water. This is what I imagine heaven will look like. And, if so, I am dang excited to spend eternity there.

Beautiful!

(except for your towel animal - I think your room steward is a little pervy)

We went to Taormina too! So awesome!

Oh Denise. A cruise of a lifetime! So many amazing photos and such good times. I think Croatia is my favorite. What place had the best food? What place was the most difficult to navigate? Did you get pick pocketed? Are you sad it is over??
