Recommendations

Jeremy and I are starting to stockpile downloaded TV shows and kindle books for our big move. We will probably be in a hotel for a month in Berlin while we look for a house, and then it will take about another month for our stuff to get to us. When you have to live out of a few suitcases for months at a time there isn't much room for entertainment. I am so thankful for my laptop and my kindle. It is loads of miniature fun.

I would love any suggestions on good books, movies or TV shows you have watched. They don't have to be recent; I'm always up for some great oldies. I'll return the favor below.

These were my favorite books I read in 2009:
The Education of Little Tree
The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society
Inkheart
The Tipping Point
The Secret Garden
Life is So Good
Giving: How each of us can Change the World
The Secret Life of Bees
Angelina Jolie’s Notes From my Travels

Hey Denise! Some good TV series to get: 24 (the first 5 seasons), The Office, Prison Break and Lost (we're just starting Lost actually, and are almost on season 2 - it's good so far). For books, a few people have recommended "Hunger Games" by Suzanne Collins, so that's going to be on my reading list this year. I just got a Kindle for Christmas and the only book I have on it yet is Pride and Prejudice. I'm assuming you've read that one so maybe a good Dean Koonz? I liked "The Husband" and "The Darkest Evening of the Year". Or if you liked Inkheart, maybe try Inspell and Inkdeath. Right now I'm also reading Playing for Pizza (John Grisham) and the Series of Unfortunate Events by Lemony Snicket (if you're into kids books). Good luck with the move!

Love all the recommendations.

Jill -- Jeremy is so excited to red The Language of Baklava. We read a lot of the same books this year.

Cassandra -- We're right in the middle of season five of Lost right now. Best season so far! I totally love young adult literature. Some of the best books I read this year are from that category.

Rachel -- Your suggestions are always grand. I'll read a few just so we can discuss :)

Heidi -- I am on Good Reads. Add me to your list. I'm excited to check out the Peter and the Starcatcher series. Never heard of it.

Hi Denise. I don't read any more. I read two books last year: An Exact Replica of a Figment of My Imagination and Flight by Sherman Alexie. I loved them both. I read The Road over the weekend and was absolutely tortured by it but really touched by it too.

Shows that I LOVE:
Glee
Modern Family
Parks & Rec
The Office
30 Rock
Community
SNL
Top Chef

Uh oh. Here goes nothin'.

T.v.

-Monk (I'm crying because they ended it. But it is a really good end to a hilarious and witty crime show)
-Psych.
-The Mentalist

Books.
-just read Atlas Shrugged. You probably wouldn't agree with anything in it. But I was amazed by it.
-The Chosen
-Little Lord Fauntleroy and A Little princess (same author as Secret Garden)
-The Prince and the Pauper, Joan of Arc (both by Mark Twain)

Hmmm. If I think of anymore I'll let you know. My reading time has been spent on Ramona books, you know, reading to the kiddios.
